In a time of excess, overwhelm, anxiety and stress, it is beneficial to remember that we have the choice to not participate. We can choose to not engage in what the rest of society is doing to maintain our peace and happiness. Here's a little poem of sorts from me....
Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.
Just because you are able to do the job, doesn’t mean you should
Just because you have the money, doesn’t mean you need to buy it
Just because you have the time, doesn’t mean you should do it
Just because they want you to do it, doesn’t mean it’s best for you
Just because your neighbor is doing it, doesn’t mean you need to as well
Just because its a new season, doesn't mean you need new clothes
Just because everyone else is always so busy doesn’t mean you should be too
Just because something is on sale or a good deal, doesn’t mean you need to buy it now or ever
Just because there’s alcohol available, doesn’t mean you need to drink it
Just because there’s dessert, doesn’t mean you should consume it
Just because it's the weekend, doesn’t mean you should sleep in
Just because everyone else is getting married, doesn’t mean it’s right for you
Just because you used to believe it, does’t mean you believe it now
Just because you used to behave that way before, doesn’t mean it is who you are now
Just because you committed to something before doesn’t mean you can’t change your mind now
Just because you can walk away doesn’t mean you should
Just because it used to work well for you, doesn’t mean it works for you now
Just because you have the space doesn’t mean you need to fill it up with things; emptiness looks beautiful too
Your goals are different than theirs.
Your path is different than theirs.
Your intentions are different than theirs.
Your history is different than theirs.
Don’t be afraid to do things differently,
Design your life the way it is best for you.
Remember…Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
Be well,
Jenny
